| To my Congressman:
The recently-announced “Disinformation Governance Board” at the Department of Homeland Security is a transparent attempt to control the speech of the American people and manipulate public opinion about the most important issues of the day, including war, health, and elections. In any circumstances, it’s the role of independent journalists free from government coercion, not government agents, to report truth to the American public. But the Biden administration in general, and the executive director of the board in particular, Nina Jankowicz, have zero credibility in dictating to Americans what is true and what is false. Jankowicz herself is a serial trafficker in disinformation, having labeled the accurate media reports about Hunter Biden’s laptop as “Russian propaganda” and having repeated false allegations connecting the Donald Trump campaign to Russia. And of course, journalists have exposed top U.S. officials spreading countless lies over the years, from weapons of mass destruction in Iraq to the former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper lying to Congress about the NSA spying on law-abiding Americans. The American people are hurting. Therefore, I call upon you to ensure not one American dollar goes to fund the Disinformation Governance Board in upcoming spending legislation. Sincerely, |
