| Whereas: | Privacy from government is a chief cornerstone of our liberties, enshrined in the Fourth Amendment to the United States Constitution; and |
| Whereas: | The debate over “immigration reform” virtually ALWAYS includes an electronic biometric identity verification database scheme that would be required for every American to work; and |
| Whereas: | This dangerous scheme would ultimately require all Americans to carry a National “REAL ID” card or be denied the ability to legally hold a job; and |
| Whereas: | The National Database could easily be expanded to include American citizens’ gun ownership status, religious beliefs, political affiliation — and virtually anything else — at the stroke of a president’s pen. |
| Therefore: | I urge you to oppose any legislation establishing a National ID Verification Database that stores ANY information on American citizens and would ultimately require all Americans to carry a National ID Card. |
