| Whereas: | “Wichita Forward” is a lobbyist group proposing to hike sales tax in Wichita from 7.5% to 8.5%; and |
| Whereas: | The Wichita City Council has recently spent taxpayer dollars on foolish projects, such as $600,000 to install two permanent glorified porta-potties in Wichita parks; and |
| Whereas: | The people of Wichita and Sedgwick County have recently suffered under huge property tax hikes due to this kind of foolish spending and crony giveaways; and |
| Whereas: | The Wichita City Council recently passed a “parking tax” by installing parking meters in the downtown area, driving customers away from the area and destroying small businesses; and |
| Whereas: | Putting this “Wichita Forward” tax increase up for a vote will be expensive, costing taxpayers thousands upon thousands of additional dollars; and |
| Whereas: | The people and small businesses of Wichita want LOWER taxes, LESS spending, and a fair business environment. |
| Therefore: | I demand the Wichita City Council REJECT the “Wichita Forward” proposal and REFUSE to put this tax hike scheme on the March ballot. |
