| Whereas: | NEXTera is a company lobbying to the Sumner County Commission for permission to build a dangerous battery storage facility in our county; and |
| Whereas: | Fires and explosions at similar battery storage facilities have forced the evacuation of entire communities, endangering lives, businesses, and property; and |
| Whereas: | This project poses significant risk of groundwater and soil contamination from battery chemicals and firewater runoff, and lacks clear and robust plans to assure safety; and |
| Whereas: | This project therefore threatens health and safety, business and farm livelihood, quality of life, and property values in Sumner County. |
| Therefore: | I demand the Sumner County Commission REJECT the NEXTera project, and vote AGAINST giving permission for NEXTera to build their battery storage facility in Sumner County. |
