| Whereas: | The Kansas Constitution requires a two-thirds supermajority in both the Kansas House and Senate to apply for a constitutional convention; and |
| Whereas: | Two legislators have sued IN FEDERAL COURT to violate this requirement in the Kansas Constitution so they can sneak a constitutional convention application through with only a simple majority; and |
| Whereas: | This lawsuit proves what we have said all along, which is that NOTHING can constrain a constitutional convention. NOTHING can constrain the legislature from violating the Kansas Constitution, and likewise NOTHING can constrain the delegates when attending a constitutional convention; and |
| Whereas: | Scholars, including past Supreme Court justices, agree that a constitutional convention, once called, cannot be limited BY ANY AUTHORITY; and |
| Whereas: | Delegates who will control a constitutional convention will include politicians who called blatantly unconstitutional shutdowns in 49 states, and who passed ObamaCare Expansion in 39 states; and |
| Whereas: | The money and influence of special interests, including George Soros and leftist organizations like Wolf PAC, could overwhelm a convention; and |
| Whereas: | This could destroy free speech, freedom of religion, free press, the right to keep and bear arms, free markets, fair elections, and other cherished protections. |
| Therefore: | I demand that my State Senator and Representative CONDEMN the recent lawsuit against the Kansas Constitution and REJECT any resolution or legislation applying for an Article V Constitutional Convention. |
