Defeat the Corker-Kaine AUMF!
Your liberties are once again hanging by a thread.
Senators Bob Corker (R-TN) and Tim Kaine (D-VA) are trying to ram through their new Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF), S. Res. 59, which actually EXPANDS the government’s power to lock you up and throw away the key, without charge or trial.
That’s why I’m counting on you to please sign the petition below insisting your U.S. Senators oppose S. Res. 59 and any other legislation that would expand indefinite detention.

Petition to My U.S. Senators
| Whereas: | The Sixth Amendment states: “the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury… and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defence;” and |
| Whereas: | The alleged Executive authority to indefinitely detain individuals, including American citizens, flagrantly violates the Sixth Amendment; and |
| Whereas: | The Corker-Kaine Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF), S. Res. 59, would actually expand the Executive’s alleged indefinite detention authority; and |
| Whereas: | Under the proposed AUMF, this or future president could name an American organization or individual to the list of “associated forces” and begin to lock Americans up indefinitely without charge or trial; |
| Therefore: | I insist you oppose S. Res. 59 and any other legislation that would expand indefinite detention. |
